Adrian Independent School District 511 recently received a new grant award from the Worthington Regional Health Care Foundation, Inc.
In 2021, the district received $15,000 toward the weight room project, which was completed in summer 2021. This year, the district’s administrative team of Cate Koehne, Randy Schettler and Molly Schilling -- working with elementary counselor Jordan Pater, middle school/high school counselor Sharyn Story and other staff members -- analyzed needs of the student body that reach beyond academic support. The district applied for a grant to support social emotional learning efforts, which includes portions of its positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) programs at both district buildings as well as a new backpack program.
The awarded grant amount is $23,175. Some of this money has already been spent on guest speakers in both buildings. The backpack program, which will further support families who may need a little extra help making nutrition ends meet over the weekends, is expected to start this fall.
