Multiple charges have been filed in a single vehicle crash this past Friday near Rock Rapids that injured a Fairmont man.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, a 1994 GMC pickup operated by Juan Rubio, 25, of Fairmont was southbound on Lyon County K52. Rubio admitted he was using his phone and lost control of the vehicle while rounding a curve. The vehicle went into the ditch and rolled; Rubio was taken to Avera Merrill Pioneer Hospital in Rock Rapids.
A further investigation into the crash revealed the vehicle’s license plates were from the previous owner. Rubio stated he had purchased the truck last year.
