It's a busy summer for Buffalo Ridge Young Marines participants

The Buffalo Ridge Young Marines participated in three major Young Marines events across the Midwest in recent weeks.

At the Midwest Regiment Summer Encampment in Missouri, Buffalo Ridge was represented by Caryn Harrington, Marlee Mitchell, Allen Ahrens, Jury Star, Remington Seachris, John Spartz, Hosanna Taw, Devon Stenberg, Ben Marquardt, Brooklynn Tyrrell, Dan Harrington, Rebekah Htoo and Katelyn Rodenberg. The four-day encampment brought together approximately 103 Young Marines and adult volunteers for training, physical fitness, outdoor activities, teamwork and camaraderie. 

Five Buffalo Ridge Young Marines — Stenberg, Htoo, Ahrens, Star, and Seachris — also attended the Division 3 Encampment in Michigan. The event focused on obstacles, challenges, games and fun activities, giving Young Marines an opportunity to test themselves, build teamwork and enjoy time with Young Marines from across the division. 

The summer concluded with the Junior and Senior Leadership Schools in Illinois. Htoo and Brennon Nelson attended Junior Leadership School, while Ahrens and Star attended Senior Leadership School. Tyrrell served as Cadre, helping provide leadership and instruction to participants. 

Htoo had an outstanding performance at Junior Leadership School. She was selected as one of the Top Five Graduates of JLS and earned the Molly Marine Award for achieving the highest Physical Fitness Test (PFT) score among the female Young Marines attending the school.
