Windom school goes into lockdown Wednesday

The Windom Police Department investigated a report of Wednesday of .22-caliber shells being found in a bathroom at Windom Area Middle High School.


The report was made at 11:17 a.m. Wednesday after a student reported locating the shells. The school went into a lockdown, with students and teachers staying in their classrooms while the administration and the Windom Police Department investigated the situation. During the search, weapons were found in a vehicle outside of the school unloaded and a juvenile was taken into custody. It was determined that the building was safe, the lockdown was lifted and students returned to class. The Windom Police Department was assisted by the Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office.
