The Worthington Trojans softball team saw a 6-1 lead erased by visiting Redwood Valley in the fifth inning, but the Trojans responded with four runs in the bottom of the frame and went to earn a 10-7 victory Tuesday.
Worthington, now 1-1 this season, got two hits and two RBIs apiece from Hannah McNab, Bailey Ponto, Katy Welch and Maddie Pederson and banged out 12 hits total. McNab had a home run for the Trojans as well as a triple.
Of the seven runs Redwood Valley scored, only one was earned. Ponto picked up the pitching win, throwing the final two and two-thirds innings.

The Minnesota West Lady Jays won both games of a home doubleheader Tuesday as they recorded 10-6 and 14-12 victories over Ridgewater.
Taylor Ponto has a single, double and triple for the Lady Jays in the opener while scoring three times. Torrence Clelland and Julia Schmoker each added a single and double.
In game two Clelland had a home run, double and single while also scoring three runs. Schmoker had two doubles and single at the plate, and Ponto added two singles and a double. Kiarra Danielson also chipped in with a double and single.
Minnesota West is now 3-5 on the season.

The Worthington High baseball team was defeated in its season opener Tuesday as it lost 9-6 to Windom at the Worthington Middle School field. The Trojans were defeated despite picking up six hits in the game compared to just three for the Eagles.

The Worthington High School boys tennis team played its season opener on Tuesday and lost to visiting Fairmont, 5-2.
Ezra Bonnett and Evan Hansberger picked up Tuesday's wins for the Trojans, Bonnett, playing at No. 2 singles, rallied to defeat Dominic Lund-May by scores of 4-6 , 6-3 , 6-4. Hansberger, competing at No. 3 singles, topped Noah Vetter 6-4 , 6-0.
