It was a tough night for the Worthington High School hockey teams, as the boys and girls squads each suffered lopsided losses in Luverne.
The Cardinals shut out the Trojans 7-0 in the girls opener, while Luverne's offense exploded for 18 goals in the boys and was triumphant 18-3.
The WHS girls are next slated to play on Friday and Saturday in a tournament in Windom. The boys will be off until next Monday, when they host Windom at 7:15 p.m. The girls are also scheduled to play the Eagles at 5 p.m. that same night.

In area girls basketball Tuesday night, Jackson County Central traveled to Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial and was defeated 80-65 in a game that started about an hour earlier than originally scheduled because of the weather. The Huskies are now 0-2 on the year.
Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda, meanwhile, moved to 2-1 on the season by defeating Southwest Minnesota Christian 55-33 in Edgerton.
Adrian-Ellsworth had been scheduled to host Edgerton on Tuesday, but that game was postponed due to weather.
