Lady Jays defeated in pair of home matches

The Minnesota West women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches at home Monday, losing to the Briar Cliff junior varsity and Gustavus Adolphus JV by scores of 3-0.


Game scores against Briar Cliff were 25-22, 25-15, 25-17. In that match, Kennedy Buckenberg had 10 digs and four kills and Kiarra Danielson had seven digs, four kills and eight set assists to help pace the Lady Jays. Dannyn Peterson contributed 10 digs, seven kills and two blocks. Sami Polzin had a team-best 16 digs, and Jaenid Torres added 10 more digs.


Game scores against Gustavus were 25-21, 25-23, 25-23. Danielson filled up the stat sheet with 14 digs, eight kills, four set assists, 12-of-13 serving with two aces and two blocks. Buckneberg had 10 digs, eight kills and went eight-for-eight serving for Minnesota West. Other contributors included Sophie Larson, 15-of-16 serving with two aces; and Sami Polzine, six digs and five kills.


Minnesota West returns to conference play Wednesday when it travels to Riverland.
