Nolan Ambrose of Jackson County Central claimed the Class A 145-pound state title Saturday at the Minnesota State High School Wrestling Tournament in St. Paul.
Ambrose first won by fall in 1:56 over Alexander Schuh of Tracy-Milroy-Balaton-Westbrook-Walnut-Grove in the semifinals. He then won the fourth state title of his high school career by pinning Gavin Johnson of Kenyon-Wanamingo in 2:56.
In Saturday action involving area wrestlers who had advanced to the semifinal round:
In the Class A semifinals at 107 pounds, Gage Bjerga of Stapes-Motley won by fall over Jackson County Central’s Kyler Thier in 3:35 to advance to the finals. Thier moved into the wrestlebacks, where he won his first match 6-1 over Kaden Lasnetski. Thier then edged Bryan Jacobson of Kenyon-Wanamingo, 2-0, in the third-place match.
In the Class A semifinals at 114, Javier Berg of Chatfield captured a 12-3 decision over JCC’s Kayden Eller to move to the finals. Eller, in the wrestlebacks, then recorded a 6-3 triumph against Kaden Harfmann of Medford. He next won by technical fall over Ryan LaCanne of Kenyon-Wanamingo in the third-place match.
In the Class A semifinals at 121, Reed Sommer of Kenyon-Wanamingo was victorious by fall in 3:31 over Adrian-Ellsworth’s Moe Erdman. Erdman dropped into the wrestlebacks and was then defeated by fall in 4:14 over Isaac Rodriguez of Jackson County Central; he next lost to Eli Greenman of Canby 9-2. Rodriguez, meanwhile, won by fall in 4:43 against Elijah Greenwaldt of Staples-Motley in the third place-match.
In the Class AA semifinals at 172AA, Dominic Mann of Kasson-Mantorville earned an 8-2 decision over Sam Rock of Luverne. Rock went to the wrestlebacks. where he was defeated by Brody Duke of New London-Spicer 5-3. He then won 4-0 against Owen Angell of Becker for fifth place.

107A – Kaden Lasnetski of Minneota-Ivanhoe topped Kaston Clarke of Fulda/MCC, 10-4.
160A – Kane Larson of Fillmore-C-Lanesboro-M-C earned a 10-5 decision over Quintin Lewis of Fulda/MCC.
172A – Ben Carrier of Chatfield defeated Seth Stai of JCC, 5-0.
285A – Jaden Winselman defeated Jason Jensen of Quad County 3-2; he then was defeated Lamarcus Osborne of Minneapolis North Community 6-4.
In girls wrestling:
Luverne’s Bernie Rock placed second at 112 pounds; she was defeated 10-2 by Lauren Elsmore of Pine Island. She got the victory in the semifinals with a 6-4 decision over Isabelle Schockman of Rush City-Braham.
Cece Rock of Luverne also placed second at 148 pounds; she lost via fall in 1:41 to Skylar Little Soldier of Hastings. She got the victory in the semifinals with a 6-5 triumph over Esperanza Cavillo of Apple Valley.
