High school boys hoops tourneys continue play

Action in the Section 3AA Boys Basketball Tournament resumed Thursday, and it was Pipestone Area advancing in one south sub-section game by topping Jackson County Central 78-50 in Windom.


The top-seeded Arrows, now 22-5 on the season, will compete for the sub-section title on Saturday night. Their opponent will be No. 2 seed Redwood Valley, which edged Fairmont 60-56 in the second game of the Windom doubleheader. Those two teams will meet at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall.


In Section 3A boys hoops action, fifth-seeded Westbrook-Walnut Grove surprised No. 1 Southwest Minnesota Christian 64-56 and second-seeded Russell-Tyler-Ruthton got past No. 3 Tracy-Milroy-Balaton, 65-58. Both of those games were in Worthington. R-T-R will take on W-WG for the south subsection title at 6 p.m. Saturday at SMSU.


Elsewhere, in Section 2A, Mountain Lake Area-Comfrey advanced by downing Martin County West, 46-37.
