The Worthington Cubs recorded their fourth win of the season Wednesday evening as they topped visiting Heron Lake 7-3.
Jake Brandner pitched four strong innings for Worthington and Jake Stamer completed the final five innings on the mound. Ethan Duffy had a pair of hits and a pair of RBIs for the Cubs, whose next game will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Hadley.
In other action across the region Wednesday, it was: Fairmont 3, Jackson 0; Fox Lake 14, Mountain Lake 4; Windom 2, Hadley 1; and Luverne 6, Milroy 3.
Current Gopher League standings have Luverne sitting on top at 10-0. followed by Milroy at 7-3, Hadley at 5-4, Worthington at 4-7, and Pipestone and Ruthton each at 1-7.
In the First Nite League, Fairmont leads the way with a 9-2 mark. Windom and Jackson each have records of 7-4, while Lakefield is 6-4. Completing the league standings are Fox Lake at 5-7, Mountain Lake at 2-7 and Heron Lake at 2-9.
