The Worthington girls soccer team took on Sioux Falls Christian at home Tuesday and was defeated 10-0.

Trojans head coach Anne Greenway said afterward that WHS goalie Maylin Fabian Perez faced lots of shots – so many Greenway lost count – and had an impressive game. The eighth-grade goalkeeper came out and pressured, drove and punched – all things she has been working on in practice.

Greenway said the Trojans had a few runs at the net in each half and noted that one beautiful play between Emily Soto and Arely Martinez ended with a shot just wide of the goal. Worthington is now 0-5-1 this season.

Fairmont defeated Worthington 6-1 in a high school girls tennis match Tuesday in Fairmont.

All six of the Cardinals' victories were captured in straight sets. The lone win for the Trojans came at No. 1 doubles, where the duo of Riley Nickel and Hannah McNab defeated Anika Haugen and Johanna Petschke by scores of 6-4, 7-6.
