The Worthington Cubs suffered an 8-0 shutout loss at home Wednesday night against the Fox Lake Lakers to drop to 3-3 on the season. The Cubs will be back at home Sunday afternoon at the Worthington Middle School field; they'll take on Windom at 2 p.m. and Mountain Lake at 4:30 p.m.
In other area amateur baseball action Wednesday night, it was: Windom 7, Heron Lake 0; Fairmont 5, Lakefield 2; Blue Earth 14, Jackson 4; and Luverne 11, Ruthton 1.
Luverne, with an unblemished mark thus far of 4-0, sits atop the Gopher League standings. Milroy is in second at 4-1, followed by Worthington at 3-3. Completing the standings are Hadley, 1-2; and Pipestone and Ruthton, both 0-3.
In the First Nite League, undefeated Fairmont leads the way at 5-0 and Jackson is second at 4-1. Lakefield is third with a mark of 3-3 and Fox Lake fourth at 2-4. Heron Lake is 1-3 and Mountain Lake 1-4.
