Worthington's February is colder, snowier than normal

Worthington’s weather in February included high and low temperatures that were a little colder than normal, as well as higher than average snowfall, according to data compiled at the Worthington Wastewater Treatment Plant.


The average high temperature in Worthington this past month was 26. 8 degrees, which is half a degree colder than what’s typical. The warmest temperature readings in February were 39, which was recorded on Feb. 9, and 38, which was recorded on Feb. 12, 15 and 27.


The average low in Worthington in February was 7.4 degrees, which is 2.2 degrees below the normal. There was a low of minus-15 on Feb. 24, as well as a low of minus-14 on Feb. 3 and a reading of minus-11 on Feb. 25.


Worthington received 15.5 inches of snowfall during last week’s winter storm, which made up the entire snow total for the month. Typical snowfall for February is 10.9 inches. February’s total precipitation, meanwhile, was 1.6 inches moisture; the usual is .82.


Thus far, for the first two months of 2023, there have been 33.5 inches of snow, compared to the normal total of 20.7 inches. In terms of precipitation, we’re at 2.9 inches; the average is 1.53 inches. The average high so far this year has been 24.9; the average low 8.4.
