Among the items on the Worthington City Council agenda for Monday night is consideration of professional engineering services related to the design and development of public infrastructure improvements for the planned East Flower Lane extension.
The project represents a continuation and westward extension of the previously constructed roadway, allowing for connection to the existing railroad crossing. The city recently acquired the remaining parcel necessary to complete this connection.
Because Bolton & Menk Inc. designed the initial segment of the roadway and has completed prior study and design efforts, city staff recommends its continued involvement to ensure consistency, streamline coordination and efficiency. The scope of services includes topographic and boundary survey, preparation of a feasibility report, final design plans and specifications, permitting and bidding assistance.
A tax order not to exceed $64,500 outlines the professional services, with work anticipated to begin in May. The feasibility report is expected to be complete between June and August, with the project presented to the council in September and the improvement hearing anticipated in October.
Also Monday, the council is expected to approve a bid for the planned Sixth Avenue Street Reconstruction project. The lone bid, submitted by Hulstein Excavating LLC, is $705,849, which is approximately 20% lower than the engineer’s estimate.
An additional item on Monday's agenda has council members considering a resolution to authorize the abatement of a hazardous building, which in this case is a small detached garage located at 900 Seventh Ave. that has fallen into disrepair.
