Two Spirit Lake residents hurt in motorcycle crash

Two Spirit Lake, Iowa individuals were seriously Wednesday night in a motorcycle crash Wednesday evening on Iowa 86 just north of the Iowa-Minnesota border.


According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 1992 Honda operated by Duane Kiner, 85, was southbound on Iowa 86 at approximately 6:30 p.m. when it left the road and went into the ditch at 715th Street. Kiner and a passenger, Phyllis Thurman, 85 sustained what are described as life-threatening injuries. Both were taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare and were transferred to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.


The Lakefield Police Department, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, Lakefield Ambulance and the Lakes Regional Healthcare ambulance assisted on the scene.
