Shining Fame dance team bringing four routines to Dance Worlds competition

Updated: Mar 22, 2022

The platinum dance team at Shining Fame Performance has earned a bid to the Dance Worlds competition at ESPN Studios in Orlando, Florida next month.

The team has been working all year to get the bid, practicing at least eight to 10 hours a week on jazz, lyrical, pom and hip-hop routines. In order to get a bid to Worlds, it had to compete at a competition that gives out the bids. The competitions Shining Fame have competed in this year have been giving out five to 10 bids a competition --- not just any team gets one, so it's a significant honor.

This is the first year the dancers have tried to get a bid, and they earned a bid to dance their jazz and pom routines at Worlds during a competition in Wisconsin Dells. The team earned Worlds bids for its lyrical and hip-hop routines during competition this past weekend in Schaumburg, Illinois.

The platinum dance team at Shining Fame Performance consists of girls ranging from seventh grade to their senior year of high school. The team's members have been dancing together for years.

The team is trying to fundraise to offset some of the costs to Worlds. It will be serving burgers and dancing starting at 5:30 p.m. April 7 at the Worthington Elks. Burgers, chips, water and dessert will be served for $8/basket, and the dancers will perform their routines.

Shining Fame has also set up a fundraising account at First State Bank Southwest for anyone who wants to make a donation to the team.
