Senior Legion, Junior Legion baseball tourneys coming up

Sub-state Senior American Legion and Junior Legion baseball tournaments will soon be getting underway.


The senior sub-tourney will be played at Veteran’s Park in St. James. First-round action begins today with games that include Luverne vs. Wells at 11 a.m., Russell-Tyler-Ruthton vs. Jackson at 5 p.m., and St. James vs. Windom at 8 p.m. Elimination bracket games are scheduled for 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Friday, with semifinal matchups that same day at 5 and 8 p.m.


Additional elimination bracket games will be at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, and the winners’ bracket final is set for 5 p.m. Saturday. Another elimination bracket game will be at 5 p.m. July 21, followed by a True Second Game. The finals are set for 11 a.m. July 22, with a second game to follow if necessary.


Meanwhile, games in the junior sub-state tournament will be split between Sleepy Eye Ballpark and Oriole Park in Leavenworth. Tourney play begins Sunday with first-round games including Sleepy Eye vs. Tracy at 10 a.m. in Sleepy Eye, Windom vs. Slayton at 10:30 a.m. in Leavenworth and St. James vs. Luverne at 12:30 p.m. in Sleepy Eye. The semifinals are scheduled for 3 and 5:30 p.m. on Sunday in Sleepy Eye, while elimination bracket games are slated for 3:30 and 6 p.m. in Leavenworth.

Elimination bracket games are scheduled for 5 p.m. Monday at both Sleepy Eye and Leavenworth, and an additional elimination bracket game will be at 7:30 p.m. in Sleepy Eye. The winners’ bracket final will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday in Sleepy Eye, followed by the True Second Game at 7:30 p.m. The finals are scheduled for 5 p.m. July 23 in Sleepy Eye, with a second game to follow if needed.
