The Class C Minnesota Amateur Baseball Tournament will get underway this week with first-round games beginning Friday.
Region 13 No. 2 seed Milroy will face the Maple Lake Lakers at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Hamburg. The winner of that game will take on the Jordan Brewers at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 28 in Chaska.
Windom, the No. 3 Region 13 seed, will play its first state tourney game on Saturday, when the Pirates take on the Sobieski Skis at 1:30 p.m. in Waconia. The Windom-Sobieski victor will face the Isanti Redbirds at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 29 in Chaska.
The Luverne Redbirds, the top-seeded Region 13 squad, have a first-round bye. Luverne will play its first game at the state tournament at 7 p.m. Aug. 28 in Chaska against either the Eagle Lake Expos or Cannon Falls Bears.
The three Region 13 teams participating in the state tournament each drafted two additional pitchers from other teams for state play. Windom drafted Max Zwart of Hadley and Eli Fest of Heron Lake, while Milroy drafted Jacob VanDam of Hadley and Michael Friese of Pipestone and Luverne drafted Gavin Jacobsen and Ben Scheevel, both of Jackson.
