Luverne's mayor files to run for state office

Luverne Mayor Pat Baustian is running for election to the Minnesota House of Representatives.

Baustian will be seeking office as a DFL candidate and will challenge Republican incumbent Joe Schomacher in the November general election for the District 21A seat.

Baustian is a Luverne native who served eight years on the Luverne City Council before his initial election as the Rock County community’s mayor in November 2010. He also currently serves as president of the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities.

In running against Schomacker, who is also from Luverne, Baustian will face a state legislator seeking his seventh two-year term. If elected, Baustian said he would continue with his duties in Luverne city government.
