Luverne City Administrator John Call has announced that he is retiring at the end of the year.
In a letter to the mayor and city council dated May 19, Call wrote that it was with "mixed emotions" that he was notifying the board of his "official retirement and voluntary resignation as the Luverne City Administrator." He added: "The last 17 years in Luverne have been the highlight of my 35-year career in city management."
Continued Call: "With a progressive mayor and council, highly competent department heads and employees, we have been able to move the city forward in many areas of economic development, housing and quality of life while at the same time delivering great city services on a daily basis. However, at this stage of my career and age, it is time to move to a new chapter of my life, so that I can spend more leisure time with my family and friends."
Call stated in the letter that his last day of work will be Dec. 31.
