During their spring break recently, Iowa Lakes Community College students from the Laker Life campus ministry volunteered their time serving others on a week-long mission trip to Chicago.
Students worked with underprivileged children and prepared and served food at shelters for people experiencing homelessness. Each morning, the students volunteered at Breakthrough Ministries, which provides meals and a warm place to spend the night for people without homes. The students prepared and served the meals, and also helped sort clothes and donations at the shelters.
Every afternoon, the students traveled to By The Hand, an after-school program for children
Among the students were participated were Sarah Harstad, Will Block and Owen McKim of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Mason Stover of Milford, Iowa and Austin Lyons of Jackson.
