Drone used locally to locate woman with Alzheimer's Disease

The Worthington Police Department reports that a drone was used recently to locate a missing woman.


The WPD received a call for a missing woman on Aug. 16, with the caller reporting that his mother was suffering from Alzheimer's Disease and had been last seen walking toward a corn field. Officers from the WPD immediately responded to the scene and began talking to the complainant.


Drone operators from the Worthington Police Department and Nobles County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene and quickly launched two drones to start searching the area for the missing woman. In less than two minutes after the launch of the drones, Nobles County Deputy Mike Schei located the missing woman in the middle of a nearby cornfield. 


Officers and a family member were guided to the missing woman's location, and she was returned home safely.
