April weather cooler, drier than what's typical

Worthington's weather in April included high and low temperatures that were slightly cooler than normal and less than average precipitation, according to data compiled at the Worthington Wastewater Treatment Plant.


The average high temperature in Worthington this past month was 53.5 degrees, which is 1.6 degrees colder than what’s typical. The cooler-than-normal average came despite a brief warm spell that brought highs of 86 degrees on April 13 and 85 on April 14. Two days afterward, however, Worthington recorded a high of just 38 degrees.

The average low in Worthington in April was 31.4 degrees, which is 1.3 degrees below the normal. There was a low of 20 on April 6, as well as a low of 22 on April 1 and a reading of 23 on the relatively late date of April 23.

Worthington received 1.61 inches of precipitation during the month of April, which is considerably less than the 3.07 inches that's typical. The wettest day came with .45 inches of rain on April 15. A total of just .7 inches of snow fell last month, much less than the normal 4.4 inches.

Thus far, for the first four months of 2023, there have been 6.23 inches of precipitation, slightly more than the normal 6.06 inches. The average high so far this year has been 33.8; the average low 15.95.
