Windom man dies in Cottonwood County crash

A Windom male died Monday as a result of a two-vehicle accident in Cottonwood County.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2005 Ford F350 operated by Scott Craig Runk, 37, of Avoca was westbound on Minnesota 62 when it collided with a 2005 Pontiac Vibe operated by a 15-year-old female that was also westbound and slowing for the intersection with Cottonwood County 5. The collision took place at 12:29 p.m. Monday.

Both the 15-year-old female and her passenger, Henry Ngisa Nyandwaki, 54, of Windom, were transported to Windom Area Health, where Nyandwaki died from his injuries. Runk was transported to Sanford Worthington Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office, Windom police and fire department, Windom Ambulance, Heron Lake police and fire departments and the Westbrook Fire Department assisted at the scene.
