Saturday crash on Minnesota 23 injures three people

Three people were injured as the result of a Saturday crash in Lyon County, Minnesota.


According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2009 GMC Yukon operated by Benjamin Joe Marchington, 37, of Marshall, and a 2008 Chrysler Town & Country operated by Faustino Junior Salinas, 46, of Danube were both northbound on Minnesota 23 in snow/ice conditions when they collided. The crash took place at 11:15 a.m. Saturday near the intersection with Lyon County 10.


Two passengers in the Yukon — a 17-year-old female and a 13-year-old female, both of Marshall — were taken to Avera Regional Health Center, Marshall, with non-life-threatening injuries. Salinas was transported to Avera Granite Falls Health Center with non-life-threatening injuries.


The Lyon County Sheriff's Office, Cottonwood Fire & EMS, North Ambulance and Granite Falls Ambulance all assisted at the scene.

A Currie woman was taken to an area hospital following another crash Saturday in Lyon County, Minnesota.


According to the State Patrol, a 2014 Ford Fusion operated by Kylie Jean Vandam 23, was westbound on U.S. 14 in snow/ice conditions when it left the roadway and rolled. The crash took place at 7:15 a.m. Saturday near the intersection with 310th Street in Monroe Township.


Vandam was taken to Sanford Tracy Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The Lyon County Sheriff's Office and Tracy Fire and EMS assisted at the scene.
