WHS volleyball team gets 3-0 win on Meet the Trojans Night
The WHS volleyball team hosted Meet the Trojans Thursday night and blanked Luverne 3-0 by game scores of 26-24, 25-20, 25-14.
Ava Schutz attacked for nine kills, Kinley Riemersma added eight and Natalia Ramirez had seven for Worthington, which is now 11-7 overall. Kamryn Olson, who was honored Thursday for breaking the school's digs record back on Sept. 12, had 25 more digs Thursday. Rylee Olson and Mia McNab combined for 40 set assists. Mara Thier went 15-for-15 serving with two aces and Rylee Olson was 15-for-16 with two aces.
The Trojans next play their homecoming match on Tuesday against Marshall.

Worthington's boys soccer team put forth another impressive performance Thursday, shutting out Marshall 5-0 at Trojan Field.
Eddy Chavez scored nine minutes into the match on a pass from Kain Thepmontry for the initial Trojan goal, and Roelme Gonzalez found a loose ball and scored within the penalty box to make it 2-0 with 22 minutes gone by. Thomas Okony then sent in a header from close range to make it 3-0 with 11 minutes to go before halftime.
Juan Sandoval had a goal on a penalty kick in the second half and Erick Lopez also scored as WHS won its seventh straight and improved to 8-1-1.

In girls soccer Thursday, host Marshall beat Worthington 9-0.

Jackson County Central hosted the Tri for Health cross country meet Thursday.
In boys competition, Windom Area finished first among the 10 participating teams with 36 points. JCC wound up fourth, Adrian-Ellsworth took seventh and Worthington High School placed ninth.
David Botello Ramos had a third-place finish to pace the Huskies, and teammates Kayden Mitchell and Brycen Mitchell were 13th and 15th, respectively. The Dragons were led by Aiden Lichter, who was 19th; Cody Weidert was 22nd. For the Trojans, Evan Meyer was 16th and Braddock Marquardt 24th.
In girls competition, Luverne topped the team standings with 47 points. Adrian-Ellsworth was fourth of eight teams, JCC fifth and Worthington seventh.
The Dragons' top finishers were Keyona Klingenberg in 13th place, Olivia Bullerman in 20th and Lucy Thier in 21st. JCC was paced by an eighth-place effort from Naiya Ayers; Carly Clark was next in 28th. For the Trojans, Emily Dahlquist took 19th and Annika Kinser was next in 47th. Eryn Salentiny was also 24th for Heron Lake-Okabena.

In girls volleyball Thursday night, visiting Adrian-Ellsworth improved to 9-6 by topping Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda 3-0 in Fulda. Game scores were 25-23, 25-15, 25-15.
The Dragons led 9-3 early in game one, but the Coyotes rallied to grab a 13-10 edge. The teams then went back and forth until A-E ultimately closed things out on its third match point.
In game two, the Dragons turned a 16-14 margin into a 10-point triumph with a late surge. A-E then went ahead 12-5 in game three; the Coyotes got within four at one point but advanced no closer.
