The eighth-seeded Worthington Trojans gave top-seeded Marshall all it could handle Wednesday night in their Section 2AAA Baseball Tournament opening-round matchup, but the Tigers ultimately came away with a 6-4 triumph.
The Trojans led the Tigers, who improved to 20-5 this season, by a score of 4-3 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning. Marshall, though, managed a three-run rally to grab the lead, then held back Worthington in the seventh and final frame.
WHS is now 3-18 on the spring and will play again at 2 p.m. Saturday in New Ulm in a game it must win to prolong its season. If the Trojans should win, they'd play another game at 5 p.m. Saturday.
