Volunteer effort planned for Rock Valley school

The Sibley-Ocheyedan and Boyden-Hull school districts are leading a volunteer effort on Wednesday in Rock Valley, where the entire school recently flooded,

The aim is to have several area schools who were not impacted at the same level as Rock Valley bring a team of volunteers there to start clearing out rooms by grade level. The current plan is to have a bus leave from Sibley-Ocheyedan by 7:45 a.m. It's hoped that there will be 20-25 volunteers; more buses will be brought if they are more.

Plans are to volunteer from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Volunteeers will then have the bus return to Sibley-Ocheyedan for those who need to be back for the baseball or softball games that night. If there are enough volunteers for more than one bus, it will be determined if there is a desire for the other buses to stay later on Wednesday.

Volunteers who own power tools are encouraged to bring those along, as there may be removal of some attached cabinetry from walls in some rooms.

People are asked to sign up by 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 25. Please only fill out the form if you are able to volunteer (you may need a Google account to fill out the form).
