Trojans win twice, lose once in varsity boys tennis matches

The Worthington Trojans' boys tennis team was on action at home this past Friday against Luverne and earned a 7-0 victory. While three of the match's wins came via forfeit, the other four came as the result of straight-set triumphs.
At No. 1 singles, the Trojans' Daelen Sithad came away with a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Moises Segura won at No. 2 singles by scores of 6-2, 6-0, and teammate Ryker Fricke swept to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles. No. 4 singles player Moo Wah was victorious by forfeit.
In doubles play, the No. 1-seeded tandem of Cristian Miranda and Coltin Olmanson played their way to a 6-0, 6-2 triumph. Winning by forfeit was the No. 2 duo of Nik Martinez and Benjamin Marquardt, as well as the No. 3 pair of Phinneas Landers and Ben Potts.
The WHS tennis team returned to the courts on Monday and was defeated in a match at Redwood Valley, 7-0. The closest match of the afternoon was No. 3 singles, at which Fricke was defeated in three sets by scores of 1-6, 6-3, 6-1. The closest of the matches decided in straight sets was at No. 1 doubles, where Miranda and Olmanson lost the first set 6-2 before dropping the second 7-5.
The Trojans then earned another victory, 5-2, at Lac qui Parle ValleyDawson-Boyd on Tuesday. Segura won at No. 2 singles by scores of 5-7, 6-1, 7-6, and Ricke won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. WHS took each of the three doubles matches. Miranda and Olmanson won 7-6, 2-6, 6-4, at No. 1, Potts and Landers 1-6, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 and
Jacob Vyskocil and Moo Waw 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3.
