Trojans win tough boys soccer battle against Mankato East, 2-0
Updated: Oct 6
Up against Mankato East at Trojan Field on Saturday, Kain Thepmontry's goal late in the first half gave Worthington High School's boys soccer team a 1-0 edge. Samuel Togba then added a second-half goal with 13-and-a-half minutes left to play in regulation as WHS claimed a 2-0 win.
The visiting Cougars played the Trojans tough in the first half and applied considerable pressure, forcing WHS to defend for long stretches. That changed in the second half, as Worthington came out controlling more of the possessions and dictating the pace of the match. As a result, WHS was able to secure its 11th straight victory and improved to 12-1-1 on the fall.
The Trojans will aim to keep their winning streak alive when they play Southwest Minnesota Christian on Tuesday at Edgerton.
