With MEA break this week, southwest Minnesota football is Wednesday
The Minnesota Education Association break starts later this week and, with that, high school football games will be played throughout the region Wednesday night.
One big game will take place in Jackson as unbeaten Jackson County Central — the top-ranked Class AA team in the state — will play host to undefeated Luverne -- ranked seventh in the state in Class AA.
In area 9-man gridiron action, Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda will aim to improve to 6-1 on the season when it takes to the road to meet Granada-Huntley-East Chain-Truman. The Coyotes have won their three last three games, and their lone loss season thus far came against state No. 1 Hills-Beaver Creek on Sept. 18.
Also in 9-Man football action, Adrian-Ellsworth will look to earn a victory in its fifth straight game when it entertains Nicollet. After losing to Hills-Beaver Creek and Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda to start the season, the Dragons will face a Nicollet team which, like them, is 4-2. We'll have the game live on 104.3 La Voz.
In a Class AAA matchup Wednesday, the Worthington Trojans will try to snap a two-game skid when they meet visiting Belle Plaine at Trojan Field. WHS lost its first two this fall, then won its next two before its current streak. Belle Plaine is 3-3 on the season.
