Both the Minnesota West women's and men's basketball teams will have new head coaches on the sidelines this season.

With longtime Lady Jays head coach Rosalie "Moz" Hayenga-Hostikka becoming head coach of the Worthington High School girls basketball team, Bryan Reimers will take over as women's coach at Minnesota West. His daughter, Payton, will be a sophomore with the Lady Jays this season.

Reimers is in his eighth year of coaching basketball, with wide-ranging experience coaching boys and girls from fifth grade through high school. He has been very involved with many surrounding communities by developing and coordinating multiple youth leagues, camps and tournaments for various sports. Reimers also coordinates a Warrior AAU basketball program through Sioux Valley Sports, which included more than 90 local athletes from southwest Minnesota and northwest Iowa last season.

The Bluejay men will have a new head coach this year as Brody Anderson takes over the job, replacing Dan Tharp.

Anderson comes to Minnesota West after spending two seasons as an assistant coach at Mayville State University. During his time with the Comets, he served as the head junior varsity coach and oversaw scouting, player development and the program’s social media accounts.

Before joining Mayville State, Anderson spent two seasons as a graduate assistant for the men’s basketball program at Peru State College in Peru, Neb. He helped guide the Bobcats through two successful campaigns, including a 2022–23 season in which the program tied for the second-most wins in school history and earned a victory in the opening round of the NAIA National Tournament.
