The Worthington Trojans softball team swept a doubleheader on the road Saturday against Waseca, winning by scores of 13-3 and 14-12.
In the first game, Hannah McNab went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs. Maddie Petersen contributed a single, double, triple and two RBIs, and Breeta Johnson connected for two singles, a double and two RBIs. Emma Hietbrink was also 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Bailey Ponto added a pair of hits and earned the pitching win.
In game two, the Trojans got 10 runs in the first inning to get rolling. Ponto had two doubles, two singles, two RBI and scored three times. McNab had three singles, a double and two RBIs. Macie Mahlberg added a single, double and three runs scored, and Marin Pederson drove in three runs. The Trojans are 3-3 on the season; they play at home Tuesday against Marshall.

Host New Ulm swept the Trojans in a pair of six-inning baseball games Saturday, 10-0 and 14-4. Worthington is 3-4 this spring and plays at Pipestone Area on Monday.

The Worthington High boys golf team finished first out of 11 teams Saturday at its invitational meet at GreatLIFE Worthington, totaling 347 strokes overall to finish 15 shots ahead of second-place Pipestone Area.
Logan Powers topped WHS with an 18-hole round of 79, which was good enough for second overall.
Said Trojans coach Paul Barduson: “With temps in the 30s, we didn’t let the weather bother us and played well as a team and grinded out a lot of pars and bogeys.. Logan Powers tied for second to keep adding to his senior success. He has all the tools and just needs to keep putting it all together on the same day.”
Also posting scoring rounds for Worthington were: Andrew Mulder, whose 88 was eighth overall; Wesley Widboom’s 89, ninth overall; and Spenser Nickel’s 91, 15th overall.
The Trojans play in a Big South Division Event Monday at Redwood Falls Golf Club.

The Minnesota West baseball team split a home doubleheader Saturday against Western Technical College, losing the initial contest 15-5 and then winning 6-3.
Joe Zhu and Haruta Endo provided highlights in game one for the Bluejays with a pair of hits each. In game two, Minnesota West overcame an early 3-0 edge. Axell Espino and Daniel Castro both homered, Castro, Espino and Ridge Imhofer each doubled, and Connor Eich pitched a complete-game four hitter for the mound triumph.

The Minnesota West softball team played on the road Saturday at Ridgewater College and lost both games of a doubleheader, 9-6 and 23-6.
Makenzie Allen and Keytin Elser had two hits apiece for the Lady Jays in the first game, which saw Ridgewater tally five runs in the bottom of the fifth to earn the come-from-behind win. In game two, Allen homered for Minnesota West while Elser, Chloe Ramthun and Alayna Wingate chipped in with two hits each. The Lady Jays host Ridgewater for two games on Tuesday,
