The Worthington Trojans girls tennis team hosted its end-of-the-season awards event last week.
Head coach Mike Marquardt said that Ashley Esparza, Peer Htoo and Cassie Schulz have been named 2025 Academic All-State winners. Recognized with team awards were: Kah Blu Moo, most dedicated; Esparza, best sportsmanship; Madison Poe, most improved; and Lilly Brown, most valuable player. Brown also earned an honorable mention all-conference honor.
The Trojans recently concluded their season with the individuals' tournament. Competing were Esparza and Brown at No. 1 doubles, Angie Dailey and Isabella Poe at No. 2 doubles, Moo at No. 1 singles and Madison Poe at No. 2 singles.
Marquardt noted that 40 players competed in Trojan girls tennis this fall from grades 7-12. Seniors on the team included Esparza, Schulz, Htoo, Dailey, Kathy Montoya Melendez and foreign exchange students Fiona Kaiser and Jana Sola Garcia.
"We have an outstanding squad and built an incredible foundation for players to excel in performance and demonstrate the highest level of sportsmanship toward all opponents and coaches," Marquardt said. "Thanks to all the support from our community, parents, and staff throughout the season."
