Trojan gymnasts now 4-0 in duals with win at Pipestone Area

The Worthington Trojans advanced to 4-0 in dual gymnastics meets this season on Tuesday. Competing on the road for the third time in a row, WHS defeated Pipestone Area 137.525-128.825.
For the first time this year, the Trojans' Isabella Lazzu did not take first in the all-around competition. Lazzu led WHS by taking third with a total score of 33.65, placing behind first-place Kaysa Douty and second-place Vivian Brockberg of the Arrows. Marley Phomsatry of the Trojans was fourth in the all-around.
On the vault, Lazzu took top honors with a 9.0, with Phomsatry second at 8.9. Worthington dominated on the bars, taking each of the top five spots. Lucy Thier won with a score of 8.825 and was followed in order by Lazzu at 8.45, Jada Milbrath at 8.2, Claire Meyer at 8.05 and Phomsatry at 7.85.
Milbrath captured the beam competition for WHS with a 9.2; Phomsatry was the next highest Trojan placer in fourth. Thier was the top Worthington finisher on the floor with a second-place score of 9.15, while Lazzu was fourth at 8.95.

The Worthington Trojans girls hockey team slipped to 6-8 on the season with a 4-0 home loss to New Prague on Tuesday afternoon.
The visitors scored one goal in each of the first two periods before tacking on two more in the third. Worthington is now idle until Jan. 6, when it plays at Fairmont.
