The Worthington Trojans took a 2-0 first-inning lead, but Jackson County Central rallied and eventually went on to post a 7-3 win over WHS in a Monday baseball game at the Worthington Middle School Field.
Manny Saravia singled for the Trojans to lead off the first and later came around to score on a sacrifice fly by Chase Byrne. Wilson Mahlberg's two-out double brought home Dawson Svalland, who had walked, to make it 2-0.
Jace Jorgenson's RBI single for the Huskies in the fourth made it 2-1, and JCC scored a run without a hit in the fifth to knot the game at two. Max Ostrem led off the Trojan fifth with a double, but was thrown out at the plate trying to score on a Saravia single.
JCC edged ahead 4-2 in the sixth with a pair of runs, and WHS then threatened in its half of the inning. The Trojans loaded the bases with two outs and Ostrem singled, with Austin Gruis scoring but Dom Pavelko out at the plate. The Huskies then got three runs in the seventh to ice the game.
Dalton Larson pitched the first six innings for Worthington, allowing five hits and just two earned runs. The Trojans are now 2-11 and next host Pipestone Area on Thursday.
