State Patrol releases information on multi-car crash

Details regarding a multi-vehicle crash that occurred Thursday on Minnesota 60 have now been released by the Minnesota State Patrol.


The State Patrol reported Sunday that five vehicles were involved in the crash, which was reported at 12:41 p.m. Thursday and took place in the eastbound lane of Minnesota 60 at milepost 16 in Hersey Township. Each of the five vehicles involved in the crash were traveling eastbound in snow/ice conditions when they all collided.


Among the vehicles in the crash was a 2022 Subaru Forester operated by Curtis Dean Janzen, 67, of Mountain Lake. He sustained a non-life-threatening injury and was transported to Sanford Worthington Medical Center.


A 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan driven by Lauren Elizabeth Fruth, 24, of North Branch was also involved; she was unhurt. A 2015 Ford Focus operated by Clara Yamileth Lopez, 18, of Brewster was also in the collision; she along with two passengers -- an 11-year-old female and an 8-year-old female -- all had non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Sanford Worthington Medical Center.


Also part of the crash were a 2015 Ford F250 operated by Yad Michael Killian, 50, of Wadena and a 2020 Buick Encore driven by Eloise A. Hiemke, 71, of Blair, Nebraska. Killian was uninjured, while Hiemke was also transported to Sanford Worthington Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.


Assisting at the scene were the Nobles County Sheriff's Office, Brewster Fire Department and EMS, and Worthington EMS.
