The Worthington Windsurfing Regatta & Music Festival will return for its 26th year with a top-notch musical lineup – and the re-introduction of the Shoreline Jam – on June 12-13. As always, this event is free and open to the public.
Saturday’s entertainment on the Sailboard Beach stage will be capped by Redferrin, who will deliver his genre-bending sound beginning at 9:30 p.m. Country entertainer Chase McDaniel will also perform Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and The Indecisions are slated to open at 5 p.m.
On Friday, Self-Titled – featuring vocalist and guitarist Tommy Vote, the nephew of Worthington’s Jason Vote – will perform at 7 p.m. They’ll be followed by The Crown Jewels: A Tribute to Queen, which will rock the Regatta starting at 9 p.m.
“We are very excited to release the entertainment lineup,” said Erin Ahrens, the new president of the festival’s board of directors. “The board has been working hard to hammer out details, and the release of the music is the start of our event coming to life.”
A diverse sound will be showcased on Saturday night by Redferrin, who cites Ozzy Ozbourne, Alan Jackson and Three 6 Mafia as inspirations. His breakout viral hit “Jack and Diet Coke” earned RIAA gold certification and reached more than 120 million streams, and “Just Like Johnny” is another certified gold single that has become a staple of his live sets.
Among Redferrin’s noteworthy achievements are being named as a 2024 Amazon Breakthrough Artist to Watch and becoming the first musician to perform at the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship. He has surpassed 400 million global streams. In addition to his own songs, Redferrin’s songwriting credits can be found among other hit-making artists such as Florida Georgia Line’s “Lil Bit” featuring Nelly, “New Truck” and Dean Brody & The Reklaws’ massive hit “Can’t Help Myself.”
McDaniel, meanwhile, will deliver a country sound that has become popular in its own right. His breakout single “Project” hit No. 1 on Billboard Country Digital Song Sales and on iTunes Country, while the deeply personal “Your Daughter” (written about his sister) reached No. 3 all-genre on iTunes. His debut EP “Blame It All On Country Music” was released in 2024.
Now signed to Big Machine Records, McDaniel also climbed the charts with “Burned Down Heaven,” which became one of the most-added songs at country radio its first week, and “Risk It All.” His album “Lost Ones” was released this past September, and he has performed with such artists as Jason Aldean and Alexandra Kay.
Saturday’s opening band, The Indecisions, bills itself as “the Twin Cities’ premier cover band, blending an electrifying mix of rock, pop, indie, funk and soul to get crowds moving and grooving.” Its lineup of six musicians “brings a vibrant, charismatic energy to every performance” with sets that feature “an eclectic mix from different genres, eras and artists, because, well… we’re indecisive.”
Friday’s Sailboard Beach stage appearances by Self Titled and the Crown Jewels will deliver a night of rock ‘n’ roll to festival goers.
Self-Titled promotes itself as a ‘high-energy Midwest rock band built on powerful guitars, dynamic vocals and a true love for live music.” The Twin Cities-based five-person band is known regionally for its “engaging performances and signature rock sound” and has recently shared the stage with acts including .38 Special and Blue Öyster Cult. Self-Titled’s sound includes dual guitars, three vocalists and live keyboards.
The Crown Jewels will follow on Friday, and the Minneapolis band is comprised of musicians who have toured both nationally and internationally with other projects. The show promises “something for everyone, from the hardcore Queen fan to the casual listener” and is touted as “the ultimate live Queen concert.”
In addition to the booked musical acts on Regatta weekend, this year’s festival will include a Shoreline Jam that will serve as a showcase for local artists.
“Every year the Regatta board tries to find ways to improve our event, and we’re not opposed to trying something new,” festival board member Dayton Williamson explained. “In this case we’re not opposed to trying something from the past.
“The shoreline performances was a concept that some of the original Regatta board members welcomed,” Williamson continued. “Musicians of any type were allowed to come, find a spot along the shore of Lake Okabena and jam out. Over the years, as the music festival aspect of the Regatta has become more prevalent, the shoreline performances have kind of become a thing of the past. However, this year we thought it might be fun to bring it back again.”
The Worthington Windsurfing Regatta & Music Festival Facebook page will have more details coming soon on how people can get in on these shoreline performances.
