Two taken to Sioux Falls with life-threatening injuries following crash

Two Fairmont residents sustained life-threatening injuries Sunday as the result of a collision involving two motorcycles in Windom.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2006 Honda VT750 Cruiser operated by Donna Lynn Johnson, 56, of Fairmont and a 2007 Kawasaki VN1600 Cruiser operated by Trent Dennis Johnson, 62, of Fairmont were both northbound on U.S. 71 near 440^th Street when they struck a deer. The crash was reported at 10:50 a.m. Sunday.

Both Donna Johnson and Trent Johnson were transported to Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls with life-threatening injuries. The Windom Police Department, Fire Department and Ambulance, as well as the Cottonwood County and Jackson County Sheriff's Offices, all assisted at the scene.

A Fairmont resident sustained non-life-threatening injuries in a one-vehicle crash Saturday night in Nobles County.

The State Patrol reported that a 2013 GMC Terrain operated by Kelly Jo Cowell, 42, of Fairmont and a 2003 Ford F250 operated by Cassandra Holly Pettis, 40, of Augusta, Wis., were both eastbound on Interstate 90 when they collided at milepost 26. The crash was reported at 8:23 p.m. Saturday.

Cowell was taken to Sanford Worthington Medical Center with a non-life-threatening injury. Both a passenger in the GMC and Pettis were unhurt. The Nobles County Sheriff's Office and Adrian Ambulance assisted at the scene.
