One hurt in pickup-vs.-semi collision early Tuesday

A Walnut Grove man was injured early Tuesday in a pickup vs. semi crash in Cottonwood County.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2002 Toyota Tacoma operated by Meng Yang, 23, of Walnut Grove was southbound on U.S. 71 and a 2014 Freightliner tractor operated by Douglas Jay Vanderhoef, 62, of Windom was northbound. The two vehicles collided at 4:32 a.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Minnesota 30 in Amboy Township.

Yang was transported to Windom Area Health with non-life-threatening injuries. Vanderhoef was unhurt.

The Jeffers Fire Department, along with the Windom Police Department and Ambulance, assisted at the scene.
