One individual was hospitalized following a crash in which a vehicle struck a safe laying in the roadway in Cottonwood County.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2018 Jeep Compass operated by Mya Kathryn Mickelson, 20, of Springfield was westbound on Minnesota 60 near Cottonwood County 44 when it struck a safe that had fallen out of a 2017 GMC Sierra operated by Cynthia Ann Knutson, 36, of Bingham Lake as it turned onto Minnesota 60 to travel west.
Mickelson was transported to Windom Area Health with a non-life-threatening injury as a result of the collision, which took place at 7:44 a.m. Monday. The Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office, Mountain Lake Police Department and Windom Ambulance assisted at the scene.
