New entrance procedure to begin at WHS on first day of school

A new process for a safe, secured entrance at Worthington High School will begin on the first day of school Aug. 25. District 518 states that this enhancement will significantly improve the ability to manage who enters the building during school hours.

After the instructional day officially begins at 8:10 a.m. all guests and students will be asked to check in through the north entrance — Door #1 -- located by the student parking lot. Upon arrival at the north entrance, a Worthington High School district staff member will be present to greet all guests and students. Guests and students will be asked to provide identification such as a driver’s license or school ID for verification. If a parent or guardian for any reason does not have a driver’s license, the school staff member can use any form of identification and manually enter the person’s name into the system.

Guests will receive a visitor badge that includes the date and arrival time.  This badge should be worn visibly for the entire visit.

To make the process smooth, there will be designated parking spots reserved for guests in the student parking lot near the north entrance.

High school students are required to have their issued school ID's. If they do not have their school ID, they will be asked to use CAMPUS information on a phone or staff will verify them as a current student enrolled at WHS.

It should be noted that the south entrance of the school — Door #13 — will no longer have a buzzer or intercom system for guest entry.
