Motivational speaker Nikki Jessop will present a program at 3:30 p.m. Jan. 27 in Fine Arts Theater of the Minnesota West Community & Technical College Worthington campus.
Explains Jessop on her website: "My journey started in the hallways of hospitals and clinics, where, as a child, I spent a significant amount of time battling severe asthma and by the time I was 9 I began counseling to cope with my challenges. My teenage years presented a diagnosis curveball with Hepatitis C at the age of 17, along with other adversities that tested my resilience during my youth.
"As an adult, a positive outlook and sense of humor were my lifelines throughout decades of chronic illness, pain, various addictions and mental health struggles."
Jessop's presentation will focus on what she calls the three most important prescriptions to life: trust, acceptance and gratitude. Her talk will be open to the public, and free-will donations will be accepted. The event is being coordinated by Unspoken Truth and Creative Healing Space, and proceeds will go toward continued growth and moving forward in the community.
Attendees are encouraged to stay for a Drum Circle performance and drumming session led by Purpose Artisans at 4:45 p.m. All are welcome.
