Minnesota West receives official approval for medical coding program

Minnesota West Community & Technical College announces that its Medical Coding Specialist Certificate Program has received official approval from the Professional Certificate Approval Program (PCAP) Council of the American Health Information Management Association® (AHIMA®).

The program has earned PCAP‑approved status for three years, effective April 1, 2026, through March 31, 2029. This distinction recognizes the program’s alignment with nationally recognized standards for medical coding education and affirms its quality, rigor, and relevance to current healthcare industry needs

PCAP approval serves as a mark of excellence for medical coding programs, signaling to students and employers that Minnesota West’s curriculum meets AHIMA’s educational standards and supports graduates as they pursue professional certification and careers in health information management.
