Man sustains severe injuries in Monday I-90 crash

A one-vehicle crash Monday afternoon on Interstate 90 resulted in life-threatening injuries to an individual.


According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2006 Buick Rendezvous operated by Lyle William Schlaak, 71, of New Richland was eastbound on I-90 when it left the roadway to the left and rolled. The incident was reported at 4:04 p.m. Monday from milepost 56 in Ewington Township, in Jackson County.


Schlaak was transported to Avera Health in Sioux Falls with life-threatening injuries. He reportedly was not wearing a seat belt. The Jackson County and Nobles County sheriff’s offices assisted at the scene.
