Man posing as private investigator now in jail

A man is being held at the Cottonwood County Jail following an incident at the Casey's in Mountain Lake.

According to a press release from the Mountain Lake Police Department, police officers responded Friday to a 911 emergency call to Casey’s. The caller said she was approached by someone who had identified himself as a private investigator. He attempted to question her, but when she refused to speak to him, he presented handcuffs while saying he could detain her. She got in her vehicle and drove away.

The suspect had since left Casey’s, but the St. James Police Department had located the suspect, who was identified as Jason Lambright. Lambright never claimed to be a police officer and clearly identified himself as a private investigator. He also presented a surety bond, as required for private investigators. Lambright was subsequently released.

Upon further investigation and review of Minnesota Public Court Records, it was discovered that Lambright has been convicted of stalking (which also had an additional charge that was dismissed for Indecent exposure) and domestic abuse no contact order violation. It was also revealed that Lambright was not licensed in the State of Minnesota as Private Investigator.

With the help of the S. Saint Paul Police Department, Lambright was taken into custody Saturday evening,
