Man injured when vehicle collides with electric scooter

A Spirit Lake man was seriously injured Sunday when a vehicle collided with an electric scooter he was riding.

According to the Spirit Lake Police Department, a 2009 Nissan operated by Donna Gembler, 67, of Spirit Lake was southbound and turning left onto 23^rd Street when it collided with an electric scooter operated by Shane Nelson, 48, of Sprit Lake traveling northbound. The incident occurred shortly after 3 p.m.

Nelson sustained incapacitating injuries and was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare.
