Luverne receives $830K grant for work in its industrial park

The city of Luverne has announced that it has been awarded $830,820 from a Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) Innovative Business Development Public Infrastructure (BPDI) grant.

The money will be used for a road extension and new water and sewer infrastructure at the Luverne Industrial Park. The city is contributing an additional $935,820.

A press release explained that the project will extend Mayes Drive by about 1,550 feet. Approximately 800 feet of sanitary sewer and 850 feet of water main, storm sewer and subdrain improvements will also be built.

The construction paves the way for a new manufacturing facility that is expected to bring $39.6 million in private investment and 75 jobs to the community.

“This kind of strategic investment helps Luverne attract private investment, create jobs, grow our tax base, and position our community for long-term growth,” the release said.
