Ella Hesse, a freshman on the Minnesota West women’s volleyball team, is this week’s Radio Works Athlete of the Week. Hesse had 18 kills, 15 digs and a pair of ace serves in the Lady Jays’ huge win over rival Rochester on Wednesday night, then added a team-best 10 kills in a three-game home sweep of Anoka-Ramsey on Friday. Hesse leads Minnesota West, 18-6 this season, in kills and hitting percentage this fall, and is one behind the team’s leader in digs.
