July weather a tad warmer, much wetter than normal

Worthington weather in July featured high temperatures that were slightly warmer than normal, lows also warmer than what’s typical and wetter than average conditions, according to data compiled at the Worthington Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The normal average high temperature in Worthington in July is 82.0 degrees and the average low is 60.8 degrees, according to National Weather Service statistics. This year, those corresponding numbers are 82.8 degrees and 62.4 degrees, respectively, meaning that July highs were .8 degrees warmer than average and the month’s lows 1.6 degrees above normal.

July’s highest temperature in Worthington was 90 degrees, which was reported on both the 11th and 19th, and next warmest were highs of 89 degrees reported on the 1st, 5th and 6th, respectively. The coldest reading of the month in Worthington was recorded on July 25th, 28th and 29th at 53 degrees.

In terms of precipitation, Worthington had a measured total of 7.01 inches of moisture during the month of July. Comparatively, National Weather Service statistics indicate that the average rainfall for the month of July is 3.54 inches. A total of 3.3 inches of rain was measured on July 8; another 2.8 inches was recorded July 6.

For the first seven months of 2022, Worthington’s average high is 52.9 degrees and the average low is 31.1. Historical averages for January through July are 53.5 and 33.5 degrees. The total precipitation thus far has been 19.95 inches; the historical norm is 18.93 inches.
